Marty Reep, Author
Speaker, Forward-Thinker

Thoughts, beliefs, and words.  All of these is important, and together, they are powerful.  Thoughts lead to beliefs, and beliefs lead to words – the words that come out of your mouth.

But even before they come out of your mouth, they bounce around inside your head for a while, grabbing onto other words and thoughts.  They blend and mix with their surroundings, i.e. the kitchen, laboratory, and library of your mind.  Once they finally make it to the exit, those words pick up audible speech and come out with power and strength.

Knowing all of that, what have your words been like this week – to yourself and to others?  Have they added to and given life?  Or, have they taken away and destroyed?  That kind of self-check is valuable, because if you’re on the path you want to be on, then keep on doing what you’ve been doing.  If you identify something that you think you need to change in your words, then now’s the time to do it.

Imagine that when you woke up you could have the ability to create life, build towns, and restore hope with your words.  And, if you knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that you could use that ability all day long, what would you do?  What amazing things would you create, build, or restore?

You’ve probably already figured it out, but if you haven’t, then I’ll let you in on a secret… you actually already have that ability!  That power is yours to use or abuse, every day, all day long.  Sometimes, other people can even tell what you’re going to say before you say it aloud, because you’ve been saying so loudly in your mind that you’re broadcasting it all around you.   Amazing.

Don’t believe me?  Try it today, at some point.  Look for somebody who seems intensely focused on an idea or thought.  Try to guess what it is they are focused on.  Once they tell you or say what’s on their mind, take note of whether your guess was right or not.

Likewise, when you’re in a group of people, focus on one of the ideas as intensely as you can.  Then, as you start to share your thoughts with the others around you, see if anybody “takes the words right out of your mouth”.

Maybe it’ll happen as easy as that, or maybe it won’t.  Either way, you’ll hopefully develop a deeper appreciation for how powerful and valuable your words are.

Speak well of others, because your words are important – they have the power to build up or tear down.  So, invest your efforts in the building up and encouragement of people.  Each of your words, beliefs, and thoughts create a legacy that will reach far beyond you may ever realize.

So, again, what have your words been like, recently?  What do you want them to be like, today?  Use them well – they are powerful.
