Monday, August 12, 2019: A day that seems much too surreal to be less than one week away, especially for the graduating class of 2020. As many of you know, with the change of the Lincoln County Schools calendar, students begin classes as early as the second Monday of August. For many, the day is arriving much too quickly. Students like myself, who plan to graduate next spring are currently preparing for senior pictures, and other exciting, but sentimental “lasts” that we’ll undergo.

I’m Madison Weaver, a rising senior at West Lincoln High School. Growing up, I attended North Brook for my entire elementary education. Proceeding to the sixth grade, I was a student at West Lincoln Middle for three years. Afterwards, I began my freshman year at West Lincoln High in 2016.

West Lincoln High School has given me three wonderful years of education, friends, teachers, sports and extracurricular activities as well as miscellaneous events. If the rapidly approaching school year goes as hoped, I plan to graduate in the spring of 2020. I aspire to tell you my plans after graduation, however, truthfully, I am undecided on my career path.

Each senior experience’s different emotions and events during their last year of high school. For some, this will only be another grade level. Others may cherish this year forever, and many will continue on to college to earn multiple degrees. If you're anything like me, you have thought (and even dreamed) of this particular school year and what it will make of you. And though I am uncertain of my own path, or anyone else's, I assure you that after graduation it is only the beginning to anything you want.

After talking with many recent graduates, I am extremely eager to begin my senior year; come August 12. However, I feel like this will be a very exciting and emotional year.  At the same time, I am a bit nervous to start the school year, only because this is it - the end of high school and grade school in general.

Whatever the senior year may bring, I pray a blessed future over myself and the graduating class of two thousand and twenty.
