Just A Thought
Written March 13, 2019

Judge Rembert
Guest Columnist

Seventy-seven is a lot a years...
She was just thinking...
Thinking about how it all happened...
What did she draw on to survive...

As a child she drew off her trust...
Trust in her Mother...
When she was sent off...
Off to boarding school...
She Mother told her it was needed...
She would be safe there...
She trusted her Mother 100%...
She just went...
Not happy but willingly...

1 - Jackie Dameron Farm Bureau

She was taught to trust God as well...
She was taught to find people...
People she could trust...
She was taught to be trustworthy...
Trust was paramount...
Deal with the truth...

The truth is always safer...
It may not always be easy...
Easy to hear...
Easy to see...
But it is always the truth...

Children need to trust...
Children do carry over...
Over into adulthood...
Adulthood needs strength...
Needs bridges to travel...
Travel over storms...
All lives have storms...

It is up to each of us...
Build bridges in children...
Bridges that will carry them...
Carry them to old age...

2019 is not easy times for any of us...
Old or young...

There seems to be very few to trust...
Daily we read and hear about...
About liars, law breakers and crooks...
It is more important than ever...
Deal in the truth yourself...
Be someone you can trust...
Be someone that can be trusted...

You may not always like what you are...
Even who you are...
But you will be able to look in a mirror...
Trust will look back at you...
You can undo a mistake or error...
But you never rebuild broken trust...
The crack will always show...

--- More About Judge Rembert: WWII made Judge an only child when her half-brother was killed in the war. She lived in a tiny town in South Carolina until she was eight and her Mother went to work. She was sent to a boarding school in Belmont, N.C. From that time on she has lived back and forth in the two Carolinas. They are both home. She was born dyslexic and did not know what the problem was or that it had a name until she was about 45. She was unable to spell so she never put words on paper until she was 65 and had a computer with spell check. She comes from a long line of story tellers and a Mother that taught her much by telling stories. Stories about people and how they faced life and how they dealt with problems. If you read what she writes you may hear her Mother and her Grandmother talking to her. She is thrilled to know that anyone reads her words and finds them interesting. Oh, she is 75 now and she now makes her home in Aiken, S.C. If you like Judge’s writings or would like to comment on them let her know by emailing judgerembert@bellsouth.net.
