You Can Help

Judge Rembert
Guest Columnist

No matter your age...
No matter your job...
No matter your financial status...
No matter your sex...
No matter your political party...
You can be touched...

You can be brought to your knees...
You have an enemy...
You have a powerful enemy...
You cannot see it coming...
You often don't have a clue...
You smile at the world...

1 - Alps Mtn - Taking Care Of

What is the name of this enemy???
This evil enemy...
Well it is cancer...
You have to hear of it...
You have seen it on TV...
But now it is in your world...

How does cancer touch us...
It can touch us many ways...
Your child can have cancer...
Your spouse can have cancer...
Your parent can have cancer...
Your sibling can have cancer...
Your best friend can have cancer...
Anyone you love can have cancer...
You can have cancer...

It enters their lives and steals...
Steals time...
Steals money...
Steals well planned lives...
It makes you unhappy...
It makes you feel powerless...
It makes the patient ill and
it makes the caregiver helpless...

It would be nice if there was even one
good thing about cancer...
But there is not...

If you are free of this enemy...
Go to bed tonight and thank God...
Get up in the morning and thank God...

No matter how hard you try to hide
it may find you...
If it does pray that you have family...
Family and friends that will help...
There is never too much help...

Cancer is so powerful...
Remember to help when you can...
Help the patient...
Help the care giver...
You will give them strength...
You will give them courage to fight...
Fight this enemy...
You can make a difference in their fight...

THANK GOD SOME ARE WINNING NOW

--- More About Judge Rembert: WWII made Judge an only child when her half-brother was killed in the war. She lived in a tiny town in South Carolina until she was eight and her Mother went to work. She was sent to a boarding school in Belmont, N.C. From that time on she has lived back and forth in the two Carolinas. They are both home. She was born dyslexic and did not know what the problem was or that it had a name until she was about 45. She was unable to spell so she never put words on paper until she was 65 and had a computer with spell check. She comes from a long line of story tellers and a Mother that taught her much by telling stories. Stories about people and how they faced life and how they dealt with problems. If you read what she writes you may hear her Mother and her Grandmother talking to her. She is thrilled to know that anyone reads her words and finds them interesting. Oh, she is 75 now and she now makes her home in Aiken, S.C. If you like Judge’s writings or would like to comment on them let her know by emailing judgerembert@bellsouth.net.
