Father's Day Somewhere

When she was a little girl...
In the years gone past...
Most homes had a Mother and a Father...
Their kids knew who they were...
Their kids and everyone else knew...
It was called a family...

Years ago most Mothers were at home...
Most Fathers worked...
Everyone knew what a family was...
Grandparents were older...
When her Grandparents died at age 68...
They were old...
Now 68 is now old...
My how things have changed...
68 years old are on dating sites now...

Many things have changed...
Now a days many kids do not know...
Know who their Fathers are...
Even if they know who they are...
They are not in their lives...
This is just too sad...

Years ago Father’s Day was so special...
In 2019 it is often a very empty day...
Kids are reminded that they have no Father...
No one to hug and tell “Happy Fathers Day”...
She thinks about these kids...
She remembers all her friends had Fathers...
Fathers to give a gift to on Father’s Day...

Mothers have an empty day as well...
They have no partner to hug...
No one to share the joy of parenthood with...
No one to help with the raising of these kids...
No one to attend ball games with...
No one to smile at when the kids graduate...

People in 2019 have much to celebrate...
But all these Fatherless Father’s Days...
This needs to change.

We celebrate Father’s Day once a year...
There is a reason...
It is because FATHERS ARE IMPORTANT...
They don't just make kids...
They also make adults out of kids...
They do it with Mothers but together...
Fathers teach children...
Fathers are examples to kids...
Fathers have many jobs with kids...
Fathers are guides and support...
Not just financial support but life support...

If you are a Father think about your role...
Think about your Father...
If you are old remember the good...
Remember what you were taught...

If you are a Father...
Thank God...
If your children know who you are...
Thank God...
Fatherhood is actually a 24 X 7 job...
It is not easy...
Sometimes it is fun but not always...
BUT IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
JOB YOU WILL EVER HAVE...

Pay is not that good...
Hours are not that good...
But the hugs on Father’s Day are priceless...

More About Judge Rembert: WWII made Judge an only child when her half-brother was killed in the war. She lived in a tiny town in South Carolina until she was eight and her Mother went to work. She was sent to a boarding school in Belmont, N.C. From that time on she has lived back and forth in the two Carolinas. They are both home. She was born dyslexic and did not know what the problem was or that it had a name until she was about 45. She was unable to spell so she never put words on paper until she was 65 and had a computer with spell check. She comes from a long line of story tellers and a Mother that taught her much by telling stories. Stories about people and how they faced life and how they dealt with problems. If you read what she writes you may hear her Mother and her Grandmother talking to her. She is thrilled to know that anyone reads her words and finds them interesting. Oh, she is 75 now and she now makes her home in Aiken, S.C. If you like Judge’s writings or would like to comment on them let her know by emailing judgerembert@bellsouth.net.
