Ten years ago while they were on vacation, Tim Williams and his wife went on a ghost tour in Salem, Massachusetts. He told me they went to the Old Burying Point Cemetery, where they had been told the “hanging judge” of the Salem Witch Trials, John Hawthorne, was buried. He said this cemetery dated back to 1637 and is the oldest cemetery in Salem and the second oldest in the United States.
During their tour of this cemetery, Tim said his wife took a picture of a tombstone they were being told about. As she took the picture, a sphere went through the tombstone and an orb was seen on the opposite side. Tim said it frightened her so badly she dropped her camera. Tim and his wife couldn’t believe what they had just seen and there was no explanation for it but they have no doubts they both saw the same thing.
After leaving the cemetery Tim told me they visited the Danvers Witch Trial Memorial. This memorial was erected in memory of the innocent people who died during the witchcraft hysteria. There were some twenty people, nineteen women and l priest, executed during these trials. These trials took place from February 1692 until May 1693. Fifty people admitted to being witches, but these twenty declared they were innocent.
This is one vacation Tim says they will never forget. These were just two of the very interesting places for tourists in Salem.
