Thank You Councilman Jetton

I would like to thank Councilman Roby Jetton for listening to the residents of West Sycamore Street and getting our stop signs installed. The section of Sycamore from the stop light at Government to the intersection of North Grove was a drag strip with very few following the posted speed limit. I have radar clocked cars at 40+ on Sycamore, yes, I have a radar gun from my time coaching baseball and fast pitch softball, and yes, it was calibrated by checking the speed of a vehicle by the speed on the gun. The intersection at Pine and High has a visibility problem and speeding only makes that intersection more dangerous.

Really if folks had respected the posted speed limits, stop signs may not have been necessary. Police writing tickets would have been a deterrent but is that a possible reality and best use of our PD's time? The signs break up the speed 24/7.

Regardless of what anyone says we are seeing a definite reduction of speed on these streets. Councilman Jetton did not unilaterally decide to install the stop signs, he was listening and responding to the residents who live in his represented area, so don't give the man a hard time for doing his job.

Thank you Councilman Jetton for making our neighborhood safer!
