In A Flash

Marty Reep, Author
Speaker, Forward-Thinker

In a flash, brilliance is spawned by a moment of realization and an instantaneous awareness of things greater than you.  An utterance, a quickness, or a moment in time is all that’s needed to break through from one level to the next.  Layers fall away, and everything thing around you becomes crystal clear.

You may seemingly tread for years on broken glass or on a bed of nails.  Then, in the time it takes to turn from one page to the next, you know what you didn’t understand what you didn’t…and you believe what you didn’t.  When that happens, it’s utterly exciting!

You’ll do cartwheels, mentally and emotionally.  Maybe you’ll even do them for real in your front yard or in your living room.  Yes, when the brilliance hits, it’s that awesome.  You know what I’m talking about: golden moments that have been singular in importance to your personal history and to your existence – the ones you wouldn’t trade for the world, because they were worth all of your work, effort, and sweat over the years.

As reality of brilliance sets in, you look back over your notes and realize that you’ve finally come to a place that you truly understand what was confusing, only moments before.  With an astonished gaze, you soak in the goodness of that point in time: the room, the smells, the lighting, and the sounds.  It has happened.  It has come true.  It makes sense.

Is it tangible?  Yes and no.  It might seem as if you’re dancing in moonlight, yet it’s broad daylight, outside.  Yes, surreal and amazing.

Then, you chuckle.  Because just like speckles of light, the answer was right beneath your nose all along.  You just didn’t smell it, because your senses or receptors weren’t tuned to the right frequency.  You didn’t see it, because you had blind spots, before.  And you didn’t hear it, because you were listening for something else.

Some answers lie not in the shadows, but are sitting or standing upright in broad daylight.  The problem is that we’re not always looking in the right directions for the right things.

But, with an abrupt about-face, the patterns of rickety shadows hop up, disappear, and give way to new sunlight.  That light shines brightly and illuminates all throughout your mind’s crevices, hidden places, and crags.  The brilliance of the sun then multiplies on the arrival of the brilliance of revelation.

A smile returns to your previously contorted face, and shows that peace has finally won out, again.  In the end, you realize that it’s now just the beginning.

…All in a flash.
