2/14/2021 2:03:00 PM Letter to the Editor Farrar Responds To Recent Editorial On School Board Elections
In response to the editorial by Wayne Howard titled “Commissioners Back Partisan School Board Elections” that ran February 12, 2021 Mr. Eric Farrar writes….
It is a violation of NC and US law to allow this policy by the board to stand. The law recognizes that as citizens of North Carolina and the United States, employees have a right to participate in political activities the same as other citizens; however, the policy forbids an employee from participating in political activities during work time or use of State funds, resources, supplies, vehicles, etc. for political activities. In addition, the policy forbids any State employee from promising rewards, threatening, or coercing an employee to support or contribute to any political issue, candidate, or party. [Statutory Authority: G.S. 126, Article 5].
