Pride In Self
Written June 3, 2022

Judge Rembert
Guest Columnist

She was a little girl in 1950...
Her Mother was going to work...
Her Mother's first job...
Her Mother was 31 years old...
Her Mother was so proud of herself...

In 1950 self-pride was very important...
Self-pride was very powerful...
People were proud of what they accomplished...
They were proud to be on time...
They were proud to be trusted...
They were proud to be clean...

People were proud to be employed...
People were proud to be honest...
People were proud of their reputations...
People worked hard to be respected...
Respected for the good in their behavior...

She remembers how pleased her Mother was...
Was when she was thanked...
Thanked for her work...
Self-pride is strong...
It is very rewarding to the soul...

In 2022 we seem to have lost...
Lost the desire for self-pride...
Self-pride is within us...
It is the feeling that a person feels...
Feels when they accomplish something...
Feels right by themselves...
Self-pride has nothing to do with others...
It is about you...

You were on time...
You did the job right...
You told the truth...
You know you did the right thing...
You know you did you job right...
You are proud of yourself...

2022 seems to have lost this desire...
Desire to be proud of one's self...
People brag openly about stealing...
People brag about beating the systems...

Well folks beating the system is not...
Not something to be proud of...
Not using the system may be...
Be something to be proud of…
Not needing the system...
Is something to be proud of...

What are parents teaching their children...
Children need self-pride...
Adults need self-pride...
America needs people who have self-pride...
Self-pride is a wonderful feeling...
It is priceless...

Think about your self-pride...
Who are you...
What are you proud of...
What are you passing on to the next...
Next generation...
The generation you have touched...
The generation you will deal with...
Deal with when you are old...

More About Judge Rembert: WWII made Judge an only child when her half-brother was killed in the war. She lived in a tiny town in South Carolina until she was eight and her Mother went to work. She was sent to a boarding school in Belmont, N.C. From that time on she has lived back and forth in the two Carolinas. They are both home. She was born dyslexic and did not know what the problem was or that it had a name until she was about 45. She was unable to spell so she never put words on paper until she was 65 and had a computer with spell check. She comes from a long line of story tellers and a Mother that taught her much by telling stories. Stories about people and how they faced life and how they dealt with problems. If you read what she writes you may hear her Mother and her Grandmother talking to her. She is thrilled to know that anyone reads her words and finds them interesting. Oh, she is 75 now and she now makes her home in Aiken, S.C. If you like Judge’s writings or would like to comment on them let her know by emailing judgerembert@bellsouth.net.
