She had a busy morning planned...
Pick up a friend at 8 a.m...
Take friend to the eye doctor's office...
Bring her home...
Follow her daughter-in-law to the car shop...
Meet her at the shop at 11 a.m...
All was going as planned...
Headed to the car shop...
Driving down a busy county road...

However:
She looked down the road...
Is that a dog...
Slowed down and looked...
Looked at the saddest face...
It said, “Help me I am scared”...
“I need help, please”...

OK...turn around...
Pull in a driveway...
The dog is just standing there...
To get to her he will have to cross the road...
He is thinking...
She is out of the car...
Not sure why...
She does not put dogs in her car...

Dog has decided to come to her...
Crossing the road slowly...
Two cars and one truck are coming...
Now they are blowing their horns...
Dog is more scared...

He arrived at her car...
Now this woman is strict about her car...
NO ANIMALS and NO EATING in her Honda...
No exceptions...
She opened the back door and he jumped in...
Acted like he was so happy to be safe...

Now what?????
Call her daughter-in-law...
She is running late now...
Daughter-in-law is shocked with this news...
She had to stop laughing to suggest an idea...
Come get her and they will go...

Go to the SPCA for help...
They will find the owner...
By this time she loves the dog and...
And he acts like he loves her...

If the owner does not want the dog...
She will take the dog...
He is a one-year-old Great Pyrenees...
Decision made with no thought about...
About the size he will get...
No thought about 2022 vet bills...
This would not have been a smart decision...
But this was not an ordinary dog...

SPCA found a phone number on his collar...
Rookie was his name...
Owner was at work...
Did not know he was out...
Men were installing a fence at her house...
Fence for Rookie...
He had gotten out when the workers went...
Went into the house...
Rookie is a house dog...
That is why he was so scared...
Scared and lost...

Owner was a tiny very young girl...
She is a horse trainer...
She will be a wonderful owner...
Rookie stole my heart...
He is just a treasure...

Daughter-in-law took pictures cause...
Cause no one would believe her...
She needed a picture to prove the dog was...
Was in her mother-in-laws car...

1. Those dogs cost over $1,000 dollars...
2. They can get up to 200 pounds...
3. Vet bills would be huge...
4. Not to mention food bills...

Thank God we found the owner!!!!!

More About Judge Rembert: WWII made Judge an only child when her half-brother was killed in the war. She lived in a tiny town in South Carolina until she was eight and her Mother went to work. She was sent to a boarding school in Belmont, N.C. From that time on she has lived back and forth in the two Carolinas. They are both home. She was born dyslexic and did not know what the problem was or that it had a name until she was about 45. She was unable to spell so she never put words on paper until she was 65 and had a computer with spell check. She comes from a long line of story tellers and a Mother that taught her much by telling stories. Stories about people and how they faced life and how they dealt with problems. If you read what she writes you may hear her Mother and her Grandmother talking to her. She is thrilled to know that anyone reads her words and finds them interesting. Oh, she is 75 now and she now makes her home in Aiken, S.C. If you like Judge’s writings or would like to comment on them let her know by emailing judgerembert73@gmail.com.
