The Downtown Development Association's July 4th Storefront Decorating Contest drew 17 entries. The DDA invited downtown businesses and offices to decorate their storefronts and compete for prizes (1st place won $100, 2nd place won $75, 3rd place won $50 and 4th place was awarded $25).
The winners were:
1st place – Noblot Jewelers
2nd place – Treasurers on Main
3rd place – Estate Jewelers
4th place – Vintage Rescues
Winners were also chosen from the 35 entries in the July 4th Parade:
1st place – North Carolina Air National Guard
2nd place – World War II Veterans float
3rd place – American Legion
4th place – The Grooming Lady
