The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce joined the North Carolina Department of Labor in presenting safety awards to area businesses, industries and offices Tuesday night (March 26) at the Lincoln Cultural Center.
North Carolina Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry presented the awards, including an award for their 24th Consecutive Year of Safe Operations to Mohican Mills Tricot Knitting Plant. Mohican also got awards for its Warping Department (11th Consecutive Year) and Circular Knit Plant (Fifth Consecutive Year). Duke Power's Lincoln Combustion Turbine Station was recognized for its 17th Consecutive Year of Safety.
Other Gold Award winners included:
- NC Dept. of Commerce, Workforce Solutions local office—11 years
- Robert Bosch Tool Corporation Conversion, Customizing & Packaging--8 years
- Hedrick Industries Lake Norman Quarry—6 years
- Leonard Automatics, Inc.--4 years
- Salem Industries (division of Gaston Skills)—4 years
- The Timken Company—3 years
- City of Lincolnton Administrative Offices—3 years
Thirteen other industries, businesses and offices received two year Gold Awards; there were ten First Year Gold Awards. Eight operations received Silver Awards ranging from one to three years.
Berry also complimented Million Hour Award industries: Cataler-North America for ten million hours from February 3, 2006 until March 28, 2012 and RSI Home Products for three million hours from April 26, 2011 until December 7, 2012.
Also participating in the banquet and awards presentation were 2013 Chamber Chair of the Board, Melisa Harrison; Michelle Johnson, vice-chair of the Chamber's Business & Industrial Relations Division and John Dancoff, chair of the Chamber Safety Committee.
