People who travel from the area of Alexis to High Shoals--and vice versa--have had to take a detour for over two years, but that is about to change.

The bridge on Hoyle Creek Road between Rhyne Road and Old Willis School Road is complete.  Crews were busy Friday (March 9th) repaving the road leading into the bridge on both sides and it appears it will be open to traffic again next week.

Some residents who live just off Hoyle Creek Road have had to make a detour to Upper Spencer Mountain Road and then up Old Willis School Road to get to the homes of neighbors who live just across Hoyle Creek.

The Alexis-High Shoals Road has also been closed to traffic because another bridge (on that road) over Hoyle Creek has also been out of service.

Bids on that project were opened in late February and the work there is scheduled to be completed by late August of this year.  Until then, traffic will still be detoured on Narrow Gauge Road to make the connection from the east to Philadelphia Church Road.
