New Health Director Hired For Lincoln County

Lincoln County Health Department
Press Release

LINCOLNTON - The Lincoln County Board of Health met January 7, 2020 to officially announce the New Health Director, Mr. Davin Madden. Madden will begin his new role officially on February 1, 2020.

On November 8, 2019 an announcement was made that the current Health Director, Margaret Dollar will be retiring after almost 34 years of service to Lincoln County.

After a statewide search for her replacement the Lincoln County Board of Health is confident in their selection of Mr. Davin Madden.

Davin Madden is the Public Health Director for Wayne County and serves as the Chief Administrator of the Health Department for the past seven years. Madden has been in public health for more than 21 years working as an Environmental Health Specialist and local health director. He has served on the statewide Public Health Improvement Taskforce, served as Secretary for the North Carolina Eastern District Public Health Association, served on the executive board for the Coalition of Addiction and Life Management, served six years as chairperson for the eastern region of local health departments, and as an adjunct professor in Health Care Management for the University of Mount Olive. Madden currently serves as the Health Director Representative on the NC Board of Environmental Health Specialists Examiners, on the statewide board for Care for Carolina and as the president for the NC Alliance for Public Health Agencies.

Madden has completed graduate courses from both Strayer University and UNC Chapel Hill. He has a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration and an Undergraduate Degree in Chemistry from UNC Wilmington. Madden has been recognized by the Center for a Healthy North Carolina for his leadership and efforts to innovate community health initiatives and by the National Association of Counties for proactive work in creating community dialogues. He maintains a strong vision of how communities achieve better success by utilizing three very simple parts of every community: understanding, action, and evaluation.

Kathy Caudle, Lincoln County Board of Health Chairperson stated “On behalf of the Lincoln County Board of Health, we are excited to welcome Mr. Madden to Lincoln County. We feel he will be a wonderful asset to Lincoln County, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Health Department, and community, in general.”
