The annual “Country Fest” was held in this past Saturday, October 6, in Stanley, N.C from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event highlighted craft and food vendors, down-home entertainment, carnival rides and games for kids of all ages.
Stanley is one of the oldest towns in Gaston County. Pioneers first came to this area of the Catawba River in the middle and late 1700’s. Many of the early settlers made their homes in what was known as the Stanley’s Creek Community. It was named this because their first homes were along the banks of a small creek which emptied into a larger creek before reaching the river. The small creek was named Stanley’s for a gold prospector who was in the territory for a time before moving on south.
