Each year just before the start of school, the Lincoln Herald provides information about new administrators moving in posts in the Lincoln County Schools. In years past, we have called this look at principals and assistant principals in new locations "New Faces in New Places," but this year's group have all been serving in the Lincoln County Schools at other locations in previous years, so while the places may be new, the faces are familiar.
For anyone who doesn't already know, Lincoln County Schools first day for students will be next Monday (August 29th)--as will the schools in surrounding counties including Gaston, Cleveland, Mecklenburg and all three of the school systems in Catawba County. Lincoln Charter School began its 2016-17 year last week.
While there are still some teaching positions that remain to be filled, Associate Superintendent Dr. Matt Stover told us last week that all classes will be covered and while the schools are still looking for some more bus drivers, there are adequate substitutes among staff to take care of transportation.
The new assignments of administrators will have Tracy Eley becoming the principal of Battleground Elementary. Scott Carpenter will be moving from there to S. Ray Lowder this year. Donald Welch will be the new principal at Kiser Intermediate. Jennifer Carroll will serve as Assistant Principal at both Battleground and G.E. Massey, and while Elizabeth Carpenter will still be at Iron Station Elementary, this year she'll be Assistant Principal.
The price of lunch in the Lincoln County Schools will be going up by ten cents this year.
Parents will have an opportunity to get acquainted with school personnel and get answers to any other questions at open houses scheduled for this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The Open House schedule is:
