Bus routes may have taken a little longer than they will usually as schools opened on Monday (Aug. 28th) but there were no serious problems in any of the area schools.

Lincoln County's new Superintendent, Dr. Lory Morrow, visited several of the Lincoln County Schools on opening day.

After visiting Kiser, Battleground, Lincolnton High School, G.E. Massey and Lincolnton Middle School on Monday, she will visit Union Elementary, West Lincoln Middle School, and West Lincoln High School on Tuesday.

In Catawba County, Superintendent Dr. Matt Stover said opening day "couldn't have gone any better."  Gaston and Cleveland counties also reported opening day went well.

There's still one Open House to be held. The Lincoln County School of Technology will hold open house Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7 PM.

Students will have their first holiday of the school year on Monday (Labor Day) which is also a day off for teachers.
