It is that time of year - school ending, graduation and summer vacation. Several graduations will take place this month and next in Lincoln County.
One of the first took place Saturday, May 11 at Covenant Bible Church as six students from the Lincoln County Home Educators Home School Group were presented with their diplomas.
Graduating were: Bethany Quinn Hilmu, Brittney Diane Jones, Cameron James Long, Jennifer Ann Martin, Mary-Clara McAlister and Jeremy James Smith.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Kyle Haas, guitarist, and Angela Kanipe, soloist. Presenting the diplomas to the graduates along with their parents was David Parsons, Master of Ceremonies. Sha Parsons was the graduation coordinator.
Junior Marshalls were Maggie Kanipe and Libby Reese.
Rev. David Jones of Calvary Baptist Church in Lincolnton gave the commencement address. He challenged the graduates with “no matter what happens in life, stay focused on the Lord”.
Celia Smith has been the Home School Group president for 24 years. Since her last son graduated this year she will be stepping down as president and board member and parent Pam Bethancourt will be taking over the reigns as president for the next school term.
