The resignation of two high school principals and other factors have created a shakeup in the administration of Lincoln County Schools.  The Board of Education met Thursday evening (June 27th) and approved recommendations made by Supt. Dr. Lory Morrow.

The new principal at North Lincoln High School for 2019-2020 will be Roger L. "Chip" Cathey.  Cathey comes to Lincoln County Schools from River Bend Middle School in Catawba County. Cathey has 22 years teaching and administrative experience.

Kellie Dellinger, who had been serving Union Elementary School as the interim principal for four months, has now been named the  principal for Union Elementary.

Justin Lunsford will be the new assistant principal at West Lincoln Middle School.  Lunsford comes to Lincoln County Schools from Hickory City Schools where he has taught math at Hickory High and Hickory Career & Arts Magnet School over the last five years.  He succeeds Ann Cesena in that position; she retired.

Sheila Wright has been promoted to assistant principal/Title 1 Interventionist at North Brook Elementary School.  Ms. Wright previously taught 3rd grade at Pumpkin Center Intermediate School.

Sherrie Davis will be the new assistant principal/Title 1 Interventionist at Union Elementary.  Mrs. Davis previously taught 1st grade at North Brook Elementary School.

Contracts for many others were renewed including Dr. Elizabeth Penley at Asbury Academy; Joshua Henderson, who had been assistant principal at Catawba Springs will now be at Battleground School; Jason Cranford, who had been at North Lincoln Middle, will now be assistant principal at Catawba Springs;  Laurie Sellers, who had been assistant principal at Union, has been reassigned to Pumpkin Center Intermediate.

Other new hires and shifts in position are yet to be announced before the start of the school year in August.  School will open earlier this year than in the past--the first day for students will be August 12th.
