Lincoln County Schools have now had two deaths of staff members due to the COVID virus. The school system issued a news release Monday (Sept. 20th) announcing the death of a custodian/bus driver:

"Lincoln County Schools extends sincerest condolences to the family of Steven Raposeiro.
Mr. Raposeiro worked at North Lincoln High School since 2017 as a custodian and bus driver. He will truly be missed by his school family.

"North Lincoln High School Principal Chip Cathey said, 'Steve was a very positive
and genuine person. He had an uplifting spirit about him that will be deeply
missed around North Lincoln High School.'

Lincoln County Schools Superintendent Dr. Aaron Allen said, “Our district is grieving the loss of this staff member. This loss greatly impacts our students, teachers, and staff. We lost an employee who was an integral part of North Lincoln High School. He was respected and loved by the staff and students he served. Our district will continue to keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.'"

Steven's mother also passed from COVID.  A funeral mass for both will be held Saturday (Sept. 25th) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Highway 16.  The family will receive friends Friday 4 - 6 PM at Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver.

A third-grade teacher at Battleground School was the first victim of the virus among Lincoln County Schools staff.

According to Principal Tracy Eley “Cruceta Jeffeirs brought energy and enthusiasm to our school. She was greatly respected by everyone.”

Supt. Dr. Aaron Allen added: “It is a sad day when someone passes away. We lost a teacher who was impacting lives, pouring into our community and was excited to be part of our school family. We grieve with her relatives and friends.”

Jeffeirs was 44 years old. She lived in Cleveland County. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Donnell Gill Funeral Service in Kings Mountain.
