LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Do you have special teachers who made a difference in your life? If so, the Delta Sigma Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG) is providing an opportunity for you to celebrate them in a meaningful way during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6, 2022).
Delta Sigma is a group of 52 educators in Lincoln County that was formed in 2010 to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. In the past, this group has held an annual Spring Fashion Show to raise funds supporting local high school scholarships and beginning teachers in Lincoln County Schools. The pandemic hindered fundraising in the last two years. This teacher appreciation and recognition opportunity is a fundraiser designed not only to acknowledge exceptional teachers but to support future and beginning teachers in Lincoln County Schools.
Delta Sigma will provide three levels of recognition:
Recognition Level “A” for an Amazing Teacher: For a $30 donation, submit your teacher’s name and school name for publication in the Lincoln Times-News, and Lincoln Herald as part of an ad thanking teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. In addition, the first 50 people to purchase a Level A recognition will receive a yard sign that will be delivered personally to teachers living in Lincoln County.
Recognition Level “B” for the Best Teacher Ever: For a $15 donation, submit your teacher’s name, school name, and how he/she made a difference in your life. A personalized 4.25 x 5.5 in. note will be hand-delivered to current teachers in Lincoln County Schools during Teacher Appreciation Week with your comments on the note. For teachers not currently working in Lincoln County Schools, the note will be mailed. If your favorite teacher is now deceased, the note can be mailed to a family member. Mailing addresses must be provided.
Recognition Level “C” for the Coolest Teacher: For a $5 donation, submit your teacher’s name and school name. A Shout Out will be made on Delta Sigma’s Facebook (@DeltaSigmaChapterDKG) page during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Proceeds from this appreciation and recognition event will be used by Delta Sigma to:
- Fund at least one high school scholarship ($1000) for a female student in Lincoln County Schools planning to pursue a career in education
- Recognize an outstanding first-year female teacher in Lincoln County Schools
- Fund activities that support and celebrate all Beginning Teachers in Lincoln County Schools
Let’s show our LOVE to teachers this year by publicly recognizing them and thanking them!
