2013 4-H Achievement Awards

LINCOLNTON - The Lincoln County Cooperative Extension Service hosted the 4-H Achievement Awards Night for 2013 on Friday, Jan. 17 at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton. Cooperative Extension agents April Dillon, Fran Senters, and Melinda Houser presented the awards during the evening.

The 4-H Club of the Year Award was presented to Sassy Stitches 4-H Club. Outstanding Junior Award went to Regan Mitchem and the Outstanding Senior Award winner was Emma Isom.

Emma Isom, daughter of Gary and Jo Anne Isom, was also presented the Carolyn Heavner Goodwin 4-H Scholarship Award.

Other awards presented during the evening included:

  • National Honors for 4-H Conference - Cody Johnsen and Joseph Perkins
  • National 4-H Congress Awards - Wyatt Johnsen and Ruth Perkins
  • NC 4-H Citizenship Award - Cody Johnsen
  • NC 4-H Honor Club Award - Wyatt Johnsen.
  • NC 4-H Development Fund Scholarships - Cody Johnsen and Joseph Perkins
  • NC 4-H Electric Congress Award (Duke Energy 1st Place Territorial Award) – Emma Isom
  • NC 4-H Electric Congress Awards - Cody Johnsen, Sheyanne Johnsen, Trey Johnsen, Wyatt Johnsen, Joseph Perkins and Ruth Perkins
  • NC 4-H Poultry Judging Contest Awards – (Senior Team: Emma Isom, Ruth Perkins, and Benjamin Teague); (Junior Team: Sophie Perkins and Anna Marie Davis)
  • NC 4-H Avian Bowl - Joseph Perkins, Ruth Perkins and Benjamin Teague
  • NC 4-H Horticulture Judging Contest Awards – (Junior Team: Sarah Rodecker, Libby Reese, and Joseph Rodecker)
  • NC 4-H Livestock Judging Contest Awards - (Junior Team: Emma McSwain, Regan Mitchem, and Rex Howard); (Senior Team: Savannah Howard,Louie Scruggs and Michael Stines)

  • Cleveland County Fair Dairy Steer Calf Show Award – Benjamin Davis
  • Cleveland County Fair Dairy Show Award – Emma McSwain
  • Cleveland County Fair Market Lamb Show Award – Addie Dillon, Jordan Mitchem, Regan Mitchem

The county 4-H groups and their leaders had brought in many of the exhibits that were created by the 4-H participants. Exhibit’s by the 4-H’ers that were available for viewing included:
