Seniors at West Lincoln, East Lincoln and North Lincoln will get their diplomas a day earlier than Lincolnton graduates.  Those three schools will have their graduation on Thursday, June 12th.  LHS will hold its graduation the following evening, Friday the 13th.

Before graduation comes the awards presentations.  Those are scheduled to begin this Friday (May 30th) at West Lincoln.

Last Tuesday (May 20th) the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln County Schools held their 35th Annual Academic Awards Banquet at the James W. Warren Citizens Center, recognizing the top students from each of the four high schools.

Bishop Franklin Lowery, pastor of Gold Hill Baptist Church, was the speaker for the occasion.  Rev. Lowery, who served as a Lincoln County magistrate from 1981 until 1999, has also been a basketball coach at Lincoln Charter School.  The founder of Don't Foul Out, a program that works to encourage teens to make the right choices in school, sports, and society, told his audience that they need to stay in the game.  "Don't foul out," he said.  "Keep trying.  And be sure to obey the law--the L.A.W. LOVE what you are doing, have the right ATTITUDE, and a great WORK ethic. Take what you LEARN, APPLY it WILLINGLY and you will succeed."
