On Saturday (Nov.11th) Gaston County Police responded to the 4500 block of Dawnwood Drive where they found Patrick Shawn Schneider, 25, lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest.  Officers began first aid efforts and Schneider was transported by Gaston Emergency Medical Services to Caromont Regional Medical Center  but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators determined the shooting was a result of a dispute with Schneider’s next door neighbor Gregory Howard Town, 59.  Schneider and Town had a history of disputes, police said, with Saturday’s events apparently stemming from the parking of cars in the street in front of Town’s residence.

Town was arrested  and a handgun was also recovered at his home.  There were no other weapons recovered at the scene.
