Deputies took the woman’s statement and went to the residence in the 7400 block of Henry Road, Vale, NC to serve warrants on Waldroup. Officers were unable to get anyone to the door so a deputy was dispatched to the magistrate’s office to secure a search warrant. After the deputy left the scene Waldroup opened the front door. He was placed in custody without incident. The suspect told deputies he did not own a firearm and did not have a firearm in the residence.
When the deputy arrived back at the residence with the search warrant, a pistol was located under the bed in the bedroom. Two rounds out of the six bullets in the pistol had been discharged.
Waldroup was charged with one felony count each of discharging a firearm inside an enclosure to incite fear and assault on a person by strangulation inflicting physical injury. He was also charged with misdemeanor assault on a female by a male at least 18 years of age.
Waldroup is in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
