Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County woman has been charged with felony child abuse in connection with a lawn mower accident that injured her eight-year-old son.

On April 1, 2019, Ashley Stacey Holt, 27, of Clark’s Creek Road, Lincolnton, NC was arrested on one felony count of negligent child abuse with serious bodily injury. She was released after posting a $2,500 secured bond.

On March 19, 2019 Holt was mowing the lawn at the residence on Clark’s Creek Road while holding a small child on her lap and an eight-year-old boy was riding on the deck of the zero turn lawn mower. The parent stopped the lawn mower but the blades failed to disengage. The young boy fell from the deck and was struck by the blades on his left leg and both hands. He was airlifted to Atrium Health-Charlotte by Med Center Air where he underwent surgery for his injuries. The child remains in the hospital undergoing further treatment.

Holt will have a first appearance in Lincoln County District Court on April 2, 2019.
