The Catawba County Sheriff's Office has announced two more arrests on charges related to illegal drugs.
Last Tuesday (April 30th), the NC Department of Corrections requested assistance from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group (SEG) while they checked on one of their probationers, Scott Wesley McClain, 37, of 4690 Sierra Drive, Maiden.
While there, officers located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and McClain, who was already on probation after being convicted on previous drug charges, was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Sunday evening (May 5th), members of the Special Enforcement Group (SEG) conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Anderson Mountain Road and Highway 16. During the stop, deputies obtained probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of 15.19 grams of methamphetamine, 4.66 grams of heroin, and 2 grams of marijuana and digital scales.
The passenger, Matthew Todd McIntosh, 39, of 1449 Beth Have Church Road, Denver, was subsequently charged with Trafficking Heroin, Possession with Intent/ Manufacture/ Sell/ and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana up to 1/2 ounce, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. McIntosh was also found to be on post release for Trafficking Heroin in Lincoln County. McIntosh was jailed under a $50,000 bond.
