Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County man has been charged in connection with using his employer’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases.

Lincoln Cleaning Service filed a report with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on May 2, 2019. The company official said the she was doing the payroll on May 1, 2019 when she noticed ten transaction attempts on the company credit card. The credit card stays locked in a desk at the business but the victim believes someone was able to get the information from the card and use the information to make purchases.

The last time the card was used for official company business by an employee was on April 26, 2019. Deputies were provided a printout of the unauthorized transactions which shows ten attempts with the card and six of the attempts being approved. One attempt was still pending and three others were declined. All attempts to use the credit card were made during the early morning hours of April 28, 2019. Detective Justin Link was able to identify the suspect from a photo from the security camera at one of the businesses.

Johnny Edward Foster, 50, of Cloudburst Circle, Lincolnton, NC was charged with six felony counts of obtaining signatures by false pretenses and one count each of financial transaction card theft and larceny by employee. Foster was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
