Fargo Trail Disturbance - One Injured, Another Arrested

LINCOLNTON – A disturbance among neighbors at several mobile homes on Fargo Trail left one woman with a head injury and another charged with the assault.

Deputies were dispatched to the call around 2 p.m. on February 29, 2020 after the Lincoln County Communications Center received a report of an assault. A female reported that she had been hit multiple times including in the head with a baseball bat. The victim identified as Tina Marie McDaris was transported to a local hospital where tests revealed she had a skull fracture.

Detectives were called to the location where it was determined that an altercation had occurred among the residents and the victim. Carolyn Renee Leatherman, 51, who list an address of Homeless, Hickory, NC is charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

During the investigation, the landlord for the properties, Ricky Toney, 60, of Fargo Trail, Vale, NC was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is in jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

Investigation into the incident is continuing by Detective James Allen.
