Two People Injured In Assault, Stabbing Incident

LINCOLNTON - Two people were injured yesterday (March 12) in an assault and stabbing incident that occurred on the Gastonia Highway south of Lincolnton.

Deputies were dispatched to the call around 3 p.m. in the 1700 block of Gastonia Highway where an altercation has occurred in or near a vehicle that had pulled off to the side of the road.

One person identified as Tevin Demato Friday, 29, of Bessemer City, NC was found lying on the ground bleeding from a stab wound. A second person, Jarica Williams, 23, of Vale, NC, was also on the scene with injuries. Mr. Friday was transported to Atrium Health - Charlotte while Ms Williams was transported to Atrium Health - Lincoln for treatment. They are expected to make a full recovery from the injuries.

Investigation into the incident is continuing by Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective J. Lail.
