Governor Roy Cooper announced this week that the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Brenda Campbell Henson and Robert Bryan Metcalfe.

On April 4, 2018, Henson and Metcalfe's bodies were found in the living room of Henson’s residence at 2511 Mary Avenue, Gastonia. Henson’s daughter, who had last spoken to her mother on April 3, 2018, said when she went to the residence the afternoon of April 4th, she discovered the murdered victims, both of whom had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The daughter told a 9-1-1 dispatcher, “The front door wasn’t locked and I went in and I think my mom and somebody else is dead in the living room.” She said she didn't know the man, later identified as Metcalfe.  Metcalfe lived at 305 W. Boston Ave., Bessemer City. He was 47.  Henson was 68.

Brenda Henson had lived alone at the Mary Avenue residence for about twenty years. Neighbors said she kept to herself and rarely left home. She had an SUV with a broken out window in the driveway but no tag. A "No Trespassing" sign was posted at her front door.

Gastonia Police questioned neighbors but were never able to identify any suspect in the case.

Anyone with information about the case should contact the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6882, CrimeStoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000 or the State Bureau of Investigation at 919-662-4500.
