LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man wanted in the death of a man whose body was found near a residence in the 1100 block of Howard’s Creek Mill Road Sunday morning. Officers arrested Johnny Ray Cook, 33, of Cherryville without incident early this morning, July 27, 2020, at a relative’s residence on Shoal Road.
On Sunday morning, the Lincoln County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call around 6:20 a.m. concerning a possible physical disturbance at the residence. When officers arrived they found the victim, Ronald Lee Ewing, 65, of Howard’s Creek Mill Road, lying in the driveway deceased.
Johnny Ray Cook was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.
