Press Release

A case of domestic violence landed a Gastonia man in jail and a woman in the hospital. Billy Ray Dellinger, 33, and Heather Hensley Jones, 41, both live at 1102 N. New Hope Road, Gastonia. Police were called to that residence shortly before 2 PM Saturday (Aug. 15th).

Jones, who had been shot multiple times, was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

Dellinger was arrested early Saturday evening and charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Dellinger, who has a lengthy criminal record, was free on bond awaiting trial on drug offenses for which he was charged in June.
