Press Release

Two suspects in an armed robbery at the Family Dollar store at 3107 Springs Road NE in Hickory are in jail awaiting a court appearance September 14th thanks to quick work by the Hickory Police Dept.

Hickory Police received a report of an armed robbery in progress at approximately 9:57 Friday (Aug. 21st).  Two suspects, one armed with a handgun, obtained cash from the business,  then fled the scene in a gray mini-van which officers observed at approximately 10:00 AM.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on the van, but the vehicle failed to stop until turning on 17th Street NE. During the stop, one Hickory Police Officer received minor injuries when he was struck by the suspect vehicle that resumed movement. The officer was transported and treated for his injuries.

The suspects fled on foot into a wooded area but were soon apprehended.
