LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Three people were arrested after a grab and run robbery at a convenience store in Denver last night.
Deputies were dispatched to the incident shortly after 9 p.m. at the Quik Trip on NC Highway 73 in Denver. Two witnesses told officers a woman jumped over the counter and began loading a trash bag with cigarettes, lottery tickets and other items. Meanwhile a second suspect was removing beer from a cooler and left the scene without paying.
The suspects fled the scene in a red Nissan occupied by a male driver. The description and license plate number of the vehicle was broadcast to officers. A deputy patrolling in the area of Highway 73 and Highway 27 located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 150 East and Highway 27 East.
Offices conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered all of the items stolen from the Quik Trip store.
Elizabeth Mayetta Hardin, 42, of Newland Road, Charlotte, NC was charged with one felony count each of common law robbery, conspiracy, and possession of stolen goods. She was also served five outstanding warrants out of Mecklenburg County. She was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $34,500 secured bond.
Davina Lynn Witherspoon, 50, of North College Street, Charlotte, NC and Carl Edward Reese, 72, Longview Club Drive, Charlotte, NC were charged with one felony count each of common law robbery, conspiracy, and possession of stolen goods. They were jailed under a $20,000 secured bond each.
