Child Seriously Injured When Struck By Car In Gastonia

A one-year-old child is hospitalized in Charlotte after being struck by a car on North Liberty Street in Gastonia shortly before noon Monday (Sept. 21st).

Gastonia Police reported that the child sustained possible life-threating injuries and was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center via GEMS and then airlifted to the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the incident to contact Officer A.L. Carpenter at 704-842-5168. The driver of the vehicle that struck the child was said to have been impaired, but no charges had been announced late Monday.
