Cramerton Shooting

Gaston County Police
Press Release

A Cramerton woman was jailed Tuesday (Oct. 13th) after an unusual incident in that Gaston County town.

At 12:16 PM, Cramerton Police responded to the 2300 block of Hampton Meadows Lane in reference to an alleged assault with a weapon.

Once on the scene, officers made contact with several people involved and one of them was placed in a Cramerton Police vehicle.  Police said other participants continued to cause a disturbance, and as officers worked to de-escalate the situation, the suspect, Ashley Marie Forney, 32, retrieved a firearm, went to the vicinity of the Cramerton Police vehicle, and fired several shots into the car, striking the victim multiple times.

Cramerton Police took her into custody and Gaston Emergency Medical Services provided treatment to the victim at the scene.  The victim was then transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Forney was  charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
