Fatal Wreck In Maiden

Maiden Police Department
Press Release

A 75-year-old Maiden man,  Jack W. Moose, Jr., was killed in a single-vehicle traffic accident shortly before noon Monday (Jan. 11th).

Police said they responded to the call at 11:50 am in the vicinity of 618 North Carolina Avenue where Moose's 2002 GMC van had left the roadway and strruck a utilty pole guy wire causing the vehicle to overturn.

Personnel from the Maiden Fire Department, Maiden Rescue Squad, and Catawba County EMS freed him  from the vehicle but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Moose was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

What caused him to leave the roadway has not been determined, but  police said neither alcohol nor excessive speed were a factor.
