On Tuesday April 6th at approximately 1:40 AM, officers with the Lincolnton Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the Days Inn, located at 614 Clark Drive. Once Officers arrived on the scene, they discovered there were two gunshot victims. A 29-year-old female had a gunshot wound to the leg. The second gunshot victim was a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The juvenile was transported to Atrium Health-Charlotte and was later listed in stable condition. The suspect left the scene on foot and was identified as 29-year-old Tevin Martrel Avery of Lincolnton. A Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy assisted and located Avery nearby on foo; he was taken into custody, charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, jailed at the Harven Crouse Detention Center, and given a $20,000 secured bond.
