A Denver man has been charged with two counts of felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, and driving left of center in connection with a March 26th wreck on Campground Road near Pine Ridge Drive in Denver.
Alexander Melton Hickman, 28, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche that collided head-on with a 2002 GMC Yukon after crossing the center line while traveling south toward Denver. The two elderly occupants of the other vehicle, 73-year-old Boyce Louis Moore and 74-year-old Michael Dean Spillars, both of Charlotte, were killed in the wreck. Hickman was flown to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of his injuries. He was initially charged with reckless driving, but the charges were updated this week. Trooper Beach of the NC Highway Patrol investigated.
Hickman will have a court appearance on July 2nd in Lincolnton.
