A body found Wednesday (July 13th) in a secluded wooden area off Smith Farm Road near US321 in Lincolnton appears to be that of a Lincolnton man who had been reported missing on July 7th.  The vehicle, which was his, was hidden in the woods.  There is evidence that his death was a homicide, but no details have yet been released.

The identity of the man has also not been released, although family members have been told, pending a positive identification from the autopsy.  The man had apparently been deceased since about the time he was reported missing.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Smith Farm Road abou a suspicious vehicle located off the road in a wooded area about 7:40 Tuesday evening (July 13th).  They confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the man who had been reported missing on July 7th.

A LCSO K-9 was brought to the scene and located his body in the wooded area. The wooded area where it was found is owned by the NC Dept. of Transportation.
