Sheriff's offices in Lincoln & Catawba counties reported drug arrests last week.
On Friday (July 16th) the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, the State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina Department of Probation charged and arrested Steven Earl Abernathy, 35, of 7494 Timber Ridge Trail, Denver, on multiple counts related to the distribution of crystal methamphetamine.
Abernathy was identified in June as an individual distributing large amounts of crystal meth in Lincoln, Catawba and Iredell Counties. In a joint operation, the narcotics officers were able to purchase approximately 1,000 grams directly from Abernathy who was obtaining the narcotics from out of state.
During a search of his Timber Ridge Trail residence, narcotics investigators seized eight ounces of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The street value of the crystal meth seized in Iredell, Catawba and Lincoln County totaled $128,100.
In Lincoln County, Abernathy is charged with felony trafficking by possession, trafficking by manufacturing, possession with the intent to deliver and sell methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Abernathy, also faces multiple felony charges in Iredell and Catawba Counties.
Last Thursday (July 15th) the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and North Carolina Probation and Parole conducted a search of a residence on Finger Bridge Road in Hickory. Eight grams of heroin and items used as drug paraphernalia were seized.
Angel Gibbs was arrested and charged with yrafficking in heroin, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Possessing, Manufacturing, selling or delivering a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gibbs was also arrested for failure to appear on a felony probation violation.
