Three people have been charged in the theft of firearms from a residence east of Lincolnton.
Detective M. Lookadoo began an investigation into the larceny of the guns from a home on Fran Avenue, off Highway 150 east, on July 2, 2021. During the investigation three suspects were identified and charged with taking four firearms valued at $3,700. Evidence was collected from witnesses along with video surveillance from the area which led to the arrests of the three people.
Melissa Jane Cherry-Pastula, 35, of 1960 Chapman Wyant Lane, Lincolnton, Preston Chase Lowery, 18, of Maple Lane, Lincolnton, and Justin Ryan Shoemake, 19, of County Home Road, Conover, were each charged with the following:
- One count of 2nd degree burglary
- One count of conspiracy to commit 2nd degree burglary
- Four counts of larceny of a firearm
- Four counts of possession of a stolen firearm
Shoemake was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond. Cherry-Pastula was jailed under a $60,000 secured bond and Lowery under a $58,000 secured bond.
