Stanley Police were still searching Monday evening for a young man who has been described as a 'person of interest' in a Saturday homicide. Police were called to the 700 block of North Buckoak Street aaround 10 PM Saturday (March 12th) when a shooting incident was reported. When officers arrived they found Stephen Moore with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
On Sunday, Stanley Police announced they were looking for Cornelius Tyrone "TJ" Duff, Jr., 26.

The Stanley shooting was the second homicide over the weekend in Gaston County. Gaston County Police said two young men were shot and one of them died after a shooting Saturday afternoon (March 12th) north of Bessemer City.
That shooting claimed the life of Caleb McCaskill, also known by an alias, Kaleb Huskins. The other victim was Justin Ezekiel Williams, who was treated at CaroMont Regional Medical Center but will survive.
That shooting happened off Dameron Road around 3 PM Saturday. By Saturday night, police had charged four suspects in connection with the homicide, which they say was the result of a robbery.
The four who were charged were identified as Leshantes Xavier McDowell, 24, of Charlotte; Wesley Isaiah McCullough, 18, of Gastonia; Michael Shane Greely, Jr., 18, of Stanley; and Justin Mykel Peebles, 18, of Charlotte.
Police said the victims were juveniles so their identity was not released.
