Homicide on I-85

Gaston County Police
Press Release


On Tuesday (March 22nd at 5:42 PM, local law enforcement officers responded to a reported shooting on southbound Interstate 85 near exit 13. When officers arrived on the scene, they found one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Uriah Diondreus McCree from Kings Mtn., was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center by Gaston Emergency Medical Services. He succumbed to his wounds. 

Officers from the Bessemer City Police, Gastonia Police, Gaston County Police, Kings Mountain Police and Gaston County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the incident.  Bessemer City Fire Department also provided assistance on the scene. 

The details of what occurred leading up to the shooting are unclear at this point.  Police are requesting the public to provide any information they have that can lead to the resolution of this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. J. L. Henderson with the Bessemer City Police Department at 704-629-2235 or Det. S. J. Brogdon at 704-866-3320.  Information leading to the identification of any suspect(s) can be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 through CrimeStoppers at 704-861-8000.
