Burglary & Theft At Self Storage Facility Investigation

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a break-in and theft at a rental storage facility on NC Highway 150 East.

On April 10, 2022 at 11:20 p.m. deputies were dispatched to Landmark Self Storage at 5485 E NC 150 Hwy reference to a breaking and entering. When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a large gate to the business knocked down to the ground. The gate appeared to have been rammed by a vehicle and run over. Deputies checked the remainder of the facility but did not discover additional damage.

The owner and an employee arrived on the scene and told officers that a now empty parking space contained a black in color Cam Superline trailer with a John Deere zero turn lawnmower and a side by side Polaris off road vehicle. The value of the stolen equipment was placed at approximately $41,000. The is estimated to cost $5,000 to repair.

Detectives believe the theft was pulled off by two pickup trucks. Surveillance video shows one of the vehicles ram the gate multiple times with the other backing up to the trailer and hooking it up. Both vehicles drove away from the scene with one traveling west on Highway 150 while the other turned east out of the business.

Around 11 p.m. On April 10, 2022 Catawba County reported the theft of a blue and gray Ford F250 as being stolen. The vehicle was similar to one of the trucks involved in the break-in. The driver of one of the trucks appeared to be a white male with visible tattoos on his neck, forearms, hands and fingers. He was wearing a dark colored baseball cap, dark t-shirt, cargo shorts, and ankle length boots.
