Travis Wayne Baxter has a record of convictions on assorted charges in Lincoln, Cleveland, and Mecklenburg counties, most of them on minor charges. The 34-year-old West Lincoln man spent about a year and a half as a guest of the NC Dept. of Corrections.
In April of last year, he filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging that he had been mistreated by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday (April 11th) Baxter was back in the federal courthouse in Greensboro. Greensboro Police say he claimed to be an FBI agent. He was carrying a weapon.
Police arrested him and charged him with impersonating an officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
He's scheduled for court on those charges June 30th, but before that, he's scheduled to face multiple traffic charges in Gaston County court on June 27th.
