Two Lincoln County Men Facing Drug Trafficking Charges

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Two Lincoln County men are facing a number of drug charges following an attempted traffic stop by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics interdiction unit.

On April 28, 2022 narcotics investigators were attempting a traffic stop of the vehicle on Highway 321 when the driver attempted to elude the officers. A vehicle chase ensued but ended on Hoffman Road in Gaston County when the suspect vehicle crashed through a fence. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.

William Jerome Wilson, 40, of Oakwood Court, Iron Station, NC was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, three felony counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, two felony counts of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule II, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule I, felony possession of a controlled substance in a penal institution, and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. Wilson was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $262,000 secured bond.

Nathaniel Ray Maguire, 21, of Clearview Lane, Lincolnton, NC was charged with four felony counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, two felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine, two felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver Schedule I, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule II, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, and speeding to elude arrest. Maguire was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $272,000 secured bond.

A first appearance for the two men was held in Lincoln County District Court on April 29, 2022.
