Kings Mountain Police say on Sunday evening (May 8th) officers responded to Amiya Express in reference to a hit & run involving two pedestrians. Officers found two victims in the roadway of North Cansler Street near the intersection of West King Street. Both victims were given first aid and transported by ambulance to Kings Mountain Hospital, one with life threatening injuries. The victims were identified as Minnie Lee Clinton, 76, and Rodney Jemal Clinton, 45 , both Kings Mountain residents.
Officers gathered vehicle information from witnesses and located the suspect at a residence in Kings Mountain. Minnie Lee Clinton succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at Kings Mountain Hospital. Rodney Jemal Clinton was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. The Kings Mountain Police Criminal Investigations Division was contacted for further investigation and charged Fredrick Wilson, 67, of 529 Belvedere Circle, Kings Mountain, with Going Armed to the Terror of the Public, Hit & Run, and Death by Motor Vehicle.
